1. I agree to pay the non-refundable adoption fee and, for puppies only, the refundable spay/neuter fee set forth in the contract. The adoption fee is $350 and must be paid when the dog is taken on trial. The preferred method of payment is PayPal and should be sent to donate@freedomgsrescue.org.  With prior approval, checks may be used to pay the adoption fee.  At the end of the trial period, if the fee is paid by check, the check will be deposited without additional notice. If the check is returned for any reason, I will be held responsible for any associated fees. 

2. If adopting an unaltered puppy, I agree to spay/neuter him/her by the date provided on the contract. I will provide proof of spay/neuter to Freedom German Shepherd Rescue by emailing info@freedomgsrescue.org. If proof of alteration is not provided by the date specified in the adoption contract, I understand that I will be issued a warning and the $75 sterilization deposit shall be considered a donation and WILL NOT be refunded to me. If proof of alteration is still not provided within the time frame given in the warning, Freedom German Shepherd Rescue retains the right to reclaim the dog. 

3. I understand that I have the dog for a trial period (two weeks, unless otherwise noted) and that I may return the dog within the trial period, if I so choose, and receive a full refund. The trial period is agreed to end on the date provided in the contract. After that point I will not receive a refund of the adoption fee. 

4. I agree to contact Freedom German Shepherd Rescue if the dog needs routine vet care during the trial period. Pre-approval MUST be given, or Freedom German Shepherd Rescue will not cover the costs incurred. 

5. I will adopt the dog only as a personal pet and companion and not as a gift, not as a chained guard dog, and not ever to be used for research purposes. 

6. I will not keep the dog outside, in a kennel or on a chain. The dog will primarily be inside.

7. I will provide adequate fresh food and water, clean and dry shelter, and daily exercise. 

8. I will provide all on-going medical care and treatment needed by the dog, including annual checkups, vaccinations and preventive medications. 

9. I will provide a properly fitted collar with a rabies tag. 

10. I understand that the dog will have some very basic training, dependent upon age, upon adoption. Such training may include sit, stay, walking on leash, and being housebroken. I understand that additional training may be needed. 

11. If specified in the contract, I will provide proper training from a qualified training facility for the dog. This includes basic, intermediate, and advanced training depending upon the needs of the dog. I understand that group training classes are not always sufficient and will seek out individualized, customized training from a professional if additional training is needed.  

12. I agree to return the dog to Freedom German Shepherd Rescue rather than to abandon, give, transfer or sell it. Prior to returning the dog, I understand that:

• I am responsible for transporting the dog back to the foster home that provided care before the adoption. 
• I am responsible for returning the dog with current inoculations including rabies, bordetella, distemper/parvo, and a test showing heartworm status. 
• I am responsible for returning the dog with all known medical issues taken care of per vet recommendation or a donation is required for the total the cost of necessary vet care. 
• I am responsible for providing proof of professional training from a training facility or individual trainer that customized training to the dogs needs versus group training or a donation is required to be made for the cost of necessary training, if training was stipulated for the dog in the contract. 

13. I agree to allow Freedom German Shepherd Rescue to complete a follow up vet check and/or visit my premises to ensure that the terms of this agreement have been kept. 

14. I agree to pay all costs incurred, including attorney's fees, by Freedom German Shepherd Rescue if legal action is taken against me to enforce any of the terms set forth above.
