Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Wiley is an 8 month old German Shepherd with a heart as big as his playful spirit. At about 54 pounds and still growing, he’s full of life, love, and the kind of loyalty that makes this breed so special. Wiley loves being part of the action, whether it’s tossing around his toys, going for a ride in the car, or settling in for a cozy nap nearby. He gets along well with other dogs when introduced properly, is respectful around cats, and adores kids — though like many young dogs, he sometimes forgets how big he is when he’s excited to play. He’s smart and eager to please, already knowing commands like sit, stay, and leave it. Wiley is crate trained, mostly housebroken, and will let you know when he needs to go outside. He’s still learning not to pull on the leash and would thrive with a family willing to continue his training with patience and consistency. Wiley would love a home with a fenced yard, preferably six feet tall, where he can stretch his legs and explore safely while he works on his recall. More than anything, though, he’s looking for a family who will appreciate his playful nature, encourage his good habits, and give him the love and structure he needs to grow into the wonderful dog he’s meant to be. If you have room in your heart for a young dog who is full of potential, loyalty, and joy, Wiley may be the one you’ve been waiting for. If you're interested in making Wiley a member of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Wiley is being fostered outside of Southern Pines, NC.
