German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young
Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Hi! I’m Finneas. Aka...the collector. Aka...toy thief. I don’t like when my toys are in the toy bin, so I sneak each one out to another location. My toys are my absolute favorite thing! My second favorite thing are belly rubs. I will roll over for bellies in a second flat. I also sleep upside-down, just in case someone wants to rub my belly. I love attention. I think I like these things so much, because I’ve never had them before. I’m about 6 months old and just discovering the world. I’m a puppy! I was wandering with my brother for months before I became confident enough to approach my foster parents’ home; I was interested in their dogs but they gave me food and bellies, so we stayed. I am: neutered, heartworm and tick disease negative, current on vaccines and preventatives, crate trained and potty trained. I will run to the door or whimper when I have to go. I know the "Sit" command...though I don’t stay for long yet. I graze at my meals; no need to eat it all at once. I weigh 37 pounds; I’m just a little guy. I have a medium energy level with an even mixture between zoomies, play time, walks, and cuddle time I'm still working on my leash manners as wearing a leash is new to me. I'm treat motivated on walks, so leading me with a treat for a heel position will help keep me from pulling. I play politely with my brother and FOUR bigger foster sister and brothers. I have never shown any food aggression or resource guarding and take correction well from my fur siblings. The biggest thing I’m working on is my socialization in public. I’ve done great with meeting people and desensitizing to distractions: bikes, skateboards, scooters, firetrucks. But walking past other dogs is hard for me and I become very dramatic, singing the song of my people. My foster mom says I could win an Academy Award in drama. I have met a few children and let them pet me. I need proper introductions to new dogs (because I’m dramatic) and don’t know how I feel about cats. I do mouth a little (try to carry your hand gently in my mouth and lead you) but can be redirected with a toy. I am also still working on not jumping. Oh! And just so you know, no toilet paper roll is safe from me. Who doesn’t want their own confetti party?” If you are interested in adding me to your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . I am being fostered in Goldsboro, NC.
