Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Dearest Gentle Reader, Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ezra, and I am a gentleman to be sure. I have left the wandering street life behind me, as I am clearly destined for a finer lifestyle. First of all, I am stunningly handsome with beautiful jet black, shiny fur, soft brown eyes, and just a couple speckles on my tongue for character. If you are looking for a polite and gentle soul, why look further? I was hesitant to enter civilized society, as I am somewhat cautious in nature. My brother, Finneas, actually convinced me to finally trust my foster parents. We were living on the streets the 6 months of our whole lives before they took us in. But as is the shepherd way, once I fall for a person, they have my heart. I will gently rest my head on the edge of your bed, place my paw upon you, and gaze lovingly into your eyes. I am: Neutered, heartworm & tick disease negative, current on vaccines and preventatives, crate trained, potty trained -I will run to the door when I have to go. I am not very treat motivated, and enjoy slow, fine dining meals, I have a medium energy level: enjoy polite play and am independent enough to Netflix and chill. I weigh 41 pounds with a sleek physique. I know the "Sit" command, but am still learning to stay in place. I'm a work in progress with my leash skills. (hey, we all like a little bad boy energy, right?). I am less confident with distractions (people in big hats, strangers coming at me too quick, and metal sidewalk grates-those things are terrifying and turn my legs to Jell-O). I have never shown any food aggression or resource guarding and play beautifully with my brother and four foster fur-siblings. I don’t know how I feel about cats: there are strays where I am and I keep an eye on them but keep my feelings to myself. My ideal home is one that has a fenced in yard, understands that I have a quiet love to give and will be patient for me to fall in love and trust them. I mean, in the grand scale of love, what’s a few weeks to wait?” If you are interested in making me a part of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator if you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . I am being fostered in Goldsboro, NC. Yours truly, Ezra.
