Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Hi everyone! My name is Iris, and I am around 5 years old and weigh 55 pounds. Not much is known about my background, but I was found as a stray wandering around with another dog. I’ve adjusted very well to home life! I am already house and crate trained. I LOVE being around my people and foster siblings. I can initially be shy with new people but warm up very quickly. Because of my moderate energy level, I am the perfect balance of play and relaxation. For the most part, I am a laid back dog but will sometimes get the zoomies especially after eating dinner! I have not shown any signs of aggression with either food or toys. I have done very well with meeting other dogs. I’m not sure how I would do with cats, but I’ve seen one across the street and didn’t react to it. I also was initially scared of younger kids but do great with them now! Since I love being with my people so much, a fence is not required. My foster parents are still working on my commands, but I know how to sit already. I will only bark when the doorbell rings or when my foster siblings bark as well. I am very relaxed outside and like to watch people and dogs pass by without reacting. I also walk very well on a leash. If you are looking for a loyal and loving dog, I am your girl! If you are interested in making me a member of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . I am being fostered in Charlotte.
