Definition of Kevlar: A fiber of high strength…. OR an active, cuddly, 9 month old puppy!!  Hiya! My name is Kevlar - I know my name so don’t wear it out LOL - and I'm a 9 month old, 50 pound German Shepherd. Yes, the sentence above says ACTIVE and CUDDLY, the best of both worlds with an e mphasis on the “Puppy”! I think words that describe me would be playful, energetic, sweet and fast. I l ove to cuddle and get belly rubs. I have been called “a typical teenage dog” whatever that means. Basically, I am working on my manners and can be energetic, but I also have the best heart and lo ve being with my hoomans and getting all the rubs I can. What can I say? I’m a sweet soul. I w ould love a family that is active and can provide me with the structure I need to grow up to b e come the best dog I can be! All I am asking for is a family that will love me with all their heart and won’t give up on me like my last one (sigh). I am hoping that will be YOU!!  From Kevlar's foster mom: Kevlar has not had an easy life. He ended up in a rural NC shelter when he was approximately 3 m onths old and was adopted only to be returned when he was 8 months old. Thankfully the n i ce people at Freedom GSR pulled him before it was too late. Kevlar will go to the door to let you know he’s got to go potty. He currently sleeps in a crate and is crated when he's not hanging out w ith his foster parents. Kevlar does well with other dogs, preferably dogs who can match his e nergy level or do not mind an energetic pup hanging around. Kevlar would also do fine as an only d og. Even though Kevlar has playtime in his foster parents' fenced in backyard, he often does a few zoomies, then wants to be with his human, so a fenced in yard is not necessarily required.  Kevlar would be considered moderate to high energy, however, when corrected or crated he will c alm down. Kevlar has attended 5 days of a board and train p rogram with a professional trainer in Jacksonville, NC. His foster parents are continuing to build on his obedience training. During training he was exposed to many different environments to include other d ogs, people, and situations, and handled them like a pro!! Kevlar has been exposed to cats in a c ontrolled environment and did well.  If you are able to offer Kevlar his furever home, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . Kevlar is being fostered outside of Wilmington.
