Xyrah means "she loves" and once Xyrah becomes your friend and trusts you, she will love you and become a very loyal four-legged friend.   She has great GSD markings and reminds me of an Egyptian Princess with her stunning looks and long legs. Xyrah is about 10 months old and did not have a great start in life. She had 2 owners that didn't treat her well; who locked her in a crate and didn't feed her. Her 3rd mom loved her very much, as did her teenage son, but unfortunately her mom required surgery. Sadly her mom had to surrender Xyrah to Freedom.   I am Xyrah's foster mom and she has received all the love and care we can give her.   Three of our dogs accepted Xyrah into the pack as soon as she arrived and love to play with her.   Xyrah especially likes to 'play fight' with our younger GSD! She has met other dogs and has gotten on well with them too.   She even met a friend's indoor bird, who was flying around the house and  took no notice of it whatsoever.   I was the one who ducked when it flew towards us! X yrah has also met my cats and did great with them as she lived with cats with her previous mom. When I picked Xyrah up to bring her home, she was frozen in fear, but on the ride to my house she started to open up as I talked to her and stroked her.  Just  25 minutes later we were good friends!   When we got her home she met my dogs and within 2 hours was running around our fenced-in yard and doing zoomies! Her whole demeanor changed. I feel like she never had the opportunity to be a puppy, so she's learning what it's like to be free, run around a backyard and enjoy life. Xyrah is one of the most beautiful GSDs I have met, her slimline body means she's fast across the ground, especially when she's chasing a ball and, yes, she'll bring it back to you so you can throw it again and again! Xyrah walks great on the leash and loves going for walks. She loves riding in my truck and going places. She can be shy and a little timid at first, she may bark at you, but once she gets to know you, she warms up and you will become friends. She has met children of 10 and above and, again, while shy at first, she will make friends quickly. We have been to the park and there were children playing on swings and scooters, running around  and screaming.  Xyrah did great and walked calmly by everyone. She would love a home with another dog so she has a friend to play with, but I'm sure she would be great as an only dog too. She knows some basic commands like sit and heel and she will give you her paw when you ask her for it. She is still putting weight on and needs to fill out a little. She loves her food and treat and  are working on this.  With regards to using a crate, I have not pushed her on this issue, bearing in mind her history and she has free roam of the house. I did set up my crate to see her reaction and she would not go anyway near it.  She did not bark, or growl, just backed away. So I would not use a crate with her.  She is being  being fostered in Charlotte, NC.
