Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Learn more about the Great Dane. Hi! I’m Sequoia - I'm a 2-year-old 90-pound German Shepherd mix that looks like the real life Scooby Doo. Just like Scooby Doo, I love to be around my people - my foster parents call me a Velcro dog. I was found as a stray so not much is known about me; I just know I want a loving family to play and cuddle with me….and I really mean lots of cuddles and being by you. I am currently living with 5 furry foster siblings. I love to play with older calm dogs but can be a little rough. I am learning from my older foster brother to be more gentle. My oldest foster sibling is only 20 pounds and a little bit cranky so I do a very good job of giving her space. I would enjoy a home that is calm. I don't need any doggie brothers or sisters but would be ok with the right dog.I do great on a leash for both walks and runs. I love going out on daily adventures with the family to help release my energy. I also like fetching my ball and running around in the fenced in backyard. I do well in the yard and have not tried to jump or get around the fence. Ninety pounds may be big, but I am overall super gentle with everyone I meet! Sure, I occasionally get the zoomies but what 2 year old doesn’t? I am both house and crate trained. I have my very own room that I sleep in at night and stay when my foster parents have to leave the house. I have all my toys and a comfy dog bed so I am very comfortable staying by myself and am not destructive when left home alone on free roam. Most days I lounge around the house while my foster parents are working and in the evening after we go play in the yard I sit next to them on the couch for movies. I’ve never met a cat so I don’t know how I would be with them. I’ve seen ducks and squirrels and haven’t chased them…so that is a good thing. I love people but small kids might get knocked over by me when I get too excited. I just get so excited when I see my people, I forget how big I am and just want all their love, scratches and cuddles. I end up jumping up for attention but I’m learning that that’s not the way to get attention and it's much better to sit or lay on my back. I’m very food motivated so that is the trick to training me. I have sit and down accomplished. Working on stay and coming every time I am called. I do well on car rides. I’m also potty trained, I’ll go to the door to let you know when I need to go outside. I like to be where the people are, I’ll be a great buddy to take on outdoor adventures or snuggle on the couch to watch movies - I’m always happy when I’m with my people. I can’t wait to meet my furever family and love them unconditionally. If you are interested in making me part of your family, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. I am being fostered near Wilmington.
