Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Meet Otto. The perfect three words to describe Otto are: Big, Sweet and Goofball. He is an 80 pound, AKC registered male German Shepherd. Otto is seven years old and was surrendered to Freedom German Shepherd Rescue when his older owner was no longer able to provide him with the life they wanted him to live. Though he spent the majority of his first seven years as an outside dog he has good manners inside. He has had no accidents in his foster home and while it may not be his favorite thing yet, he is very calm when he is put in his crate (which is where he sleeps). Otto is currently staying with his two foster sisters (nine year old GSD female and eight year old lab female) and he gets along well with them. He doesn’t really play with furry siblings, so we think he would be just as happy in a one dog home where he gets all of the attention. He does well with kids and likes to play with his human foster brother who is 3 ½ years old. He takes his cues from his humans, so if the littles get excited, he will too. In the house he fits the description of a Velcro dog as he will want to follow you and be with you wherever you go. He has not spent much time on a leash but does surprisingly well walking and enjoys long walks as a way to burn off some of his energy. A fenced yard would be best as he is used to having his freedom outside and likes to roam around. Otto is a very sweet dog that just wants the love and attention he has missed out on in his early years. If you think Otto is the right fit for you, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have any adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Otto is currently being fostered near Raleigh, NC.
