Hey y’all, my name is Peaches!   I’m around a year old and approx. 65 pounds.   I was found running among the road by a Good Samaritan who immediately took me to the ER because I looked so rough. The worst of my struggles was an all over skin issue that hurt so so bad. Over the last few months I’ve worked really hard at not scratching (it was super ruff) and I’m proud to say I’m feeling and looking MUCH better! I’m excited to show off my new and improved pretty girl coat   During my time with my foster family I’ve really started to come out of my shell and I’ve had so much fun! My foster family has two young children (2.5 years old and 9 months old) and I’m IN LOVE! I’m not obsessive but I love to play with them, watch them, let them climb all over me and overall they bring me so much joy. Foster mom says I speak their language because I’m very, very much a toddler myself lol!   Sometimes I do lose a bit of control of my big awkward paws when I get excited but overall I’m very spatially aware and I’ve never knocked over my buddies. I don’t need any time at all to warm up to small kids but big humans it takes me a minute to let my guard down. Foster mom thinks that’ll go away once I build up my confidence through training. If you are looking for the goofiness of a puppy without having to worry about potty accidents in the house, I’m your girl! I love a good routine (I’m probably a type A personality says foster mom) and when I go outside, I do my business and come right back in. Mom thinks I spent the majority of the first year of my life outside so I love being inside. If we go for an adventure on a leash, I don’t pull at all, I love being right next to my human! The one thing I’m still working on is sometimes when I get a little too nervous, I might piddle a bit. Foster mom thinks that will definitely go away once I’ve gained my big girl confidence! I am still working on my jumping, I just have such a hard time containing my joy but I know I’m supposed to keep all my feet on the ground. Foster mom says that’s really the only big thing I need to learn.   My foster family also has two German shepherds of her own (a 5 year old female and a 7 year old male). I LOVEEEEE my fur siblings! My 5 year old fur sister and I play allllllll the time! It took me a few weeks to warm up to them while I was healing, but once I did, I was in heaven!!! I don’t fully understand personal space yet with other dogs (I just get sooooo excited) so I would definitely do better in a house with another younger dog who loves to play! I need a confident role model!   Foster mom says I’m an incredible dog, and I can’t say I disagree with her lol! Zero accidents in the house, no counter surfing, I stay off all furniture (except sometimes I sneak up on the outdoor couch lol), I now LOVE my crate, I know the difference between my toys and the kids toys (except Mickey Mouse looks really fun to chew) and I loveeeee to snuggle! I’m really just a giant toddler who loves to be loved and all I want is to be a part of a family that will learn and grow with me!   I am being fostered near Raleigh, NC. If you would like to add me to your family, please reach out to your adoption coordinator.   If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org.
