Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Hi! My name is Milan. I was named after the beautiful Italian city, but mostly for my soulful eyes, wiggly butt, and long lovely snout. I am a 6½ month old girl. I don’t remember too much about where I came from, but I know where I’m headed… into your loving arms! I was found by a dumpster with my 6 brothers and sisters. Freedom German Shepherd was amazing enough to get a foster who would take all of us shepherds and find us loving furever homes. Now it’s my turn. While my siblings were growing I was not because I have a condition called Persistent Right Aortic Arch ( PRAA ). It basically means my heart’s blood vessel was wrapped around my esophagus and prevented me from swallowing kibble! The rescue arranged for my surgery at NC State to treat PRAA was I was able to transition slowly to prescription wet food. Now if you’re thinking, “oh boy that’s too much work for me”, stop right there! While I may never be able to eat kibble, I absolutely love my prescription wet food and regular treats, as long as I remember to chew, chew, chew! I need to be fed upright, which is as easy as placing my slow feeder bowl on a chair and letting me jump up and eat, or I can eat from a custom made bailey chair. You decide. Today I am healthy at 15lbs and am no different than any other pup, (other than my special diet). I am looking for a family who is willing to accept my picky eating habits and will love me even more so because of it. I walk super well on a leash and am almost potty trained. I am fully crate trained. I love belly rubs and sleeping in your arms. I am super friendly with kids ( I sometimes give love nips so watch out for those and make sure to tell me no). I love all dogs and most importantly I will love you to the moon and back if you choose me. I am being fostered near Durham, NC. I can't wait to meet you! Sincerely, The beautiful Milan. If you would like to add me to your family, please contact your adoption coordinator.
