Brave and curious are two words that best describe sweet Alexis, a 2 year old female who loves being with her people and foster brothers.  She's smart, a quick learner and takes well to consistent training.  Alexis is moderately active (wants her daily activity chasing her brothers in the yard, training or going for a long walk or jog) but also loves to chill in the house or on the deck when it's time to relax. During chill time she loves watching out the window or snuggling up to her human for cuddles.  Like all young working dogs, she needs to stay busy day to day in order to keep her mind working. This can come in the form of simple training around your house, having her as a running/walking partner, or training her for bigger things. She does well in her crate (that's where she eats) but a crate is not needed; she is perfectly fine in the house when the humans are not home. She knows to use the doggie door if she needs a bathroom break. Alexis sleeps with the pack (2 humans and 2 foster brothers).  She's a great running partner and loves going for runs or walks.  She knows "sit"  and "come", we are working on "down”. Alexis does well with other dogs and would love to have a dog sibling chase her around the yard but a second dog is not a necessity.  For play, she prefers sticks over tennis balls. An area we continue to work on is her introduction to strangers.  She has come a long way in this area and with a proper introduction and a small amount of time everything is fine (she's just trying to protect her loving humans).  Alexis hasn't been around children but would probably be fine with dog savvy kids.  She is being fostered about 40 miles east of Raleigh, NC. If you are interested in making Alexis a member of your family, please reach out to your adoption coordinator.
