Hi everyone!  My name is Akiko!  I’m a beautiful, white German Shepherd with a lot of love to give.  I’m around three years old and 55lbs, so a great age and size!

I am very dog friendly in public, but can be a bit selective about dog friends coming into my home. I really dislike pesky squirrels and other small critters, so my foster mom feels it’s best if I go to a home without cats. 

I come from a place where I was not loved and had to fend for myself, so now I am working on understanding that I am loved as well as learning what it is you expect from me. 

I’m a very smart girl.  I’m housebroken, but it’s a new concept for me, so please be patient if I have a few accidents.  My foster parents have already taught me a few commands and I am learning how to play with toys.  I’m an escape artist from the crate if you put me in it during the day, but when it’s time for bed, I walk right in and don’t wake up until you tell me to.  The times that I have escaped I haven’t done anything naughty, so yay for that!  My foster mom also wants me to go to a home with a fenced in yard since I love to explore and run around so much. 

I need someone who will be able to show me attention and has patience, someone I can have a special bond with and grow old together.  I have only been around children at an adoption event, but I did well.

Oh! Fun fact!  When I hear sirens, I give the most beautiful howl you will ever hear!  I can’t help it, I just love to sing!
