Meet Lucy.   Lucy is an adorable little 2-year-old Shepherd mix that came to her foster home from a life spent mostly outside.   Having not spent as much time around people her first reaction can be a little timid but once she warms up to you, she is a very sweet little girl who will reward your patience with snuggles and licks to the face. Once she has warmed up to you, she is the definition of a Velcro dog, and you will have a friendly follower everywhere you go in the house. Lucy gets along fantastically with her two furry foster sisters. They are both quite a bit older and bigger than her, but that doesn’t stop her from holding her own when the play gets going. She is definitely her most comfortable self with another dog in the house and would do best in a forever home with a friend or two to play with and share a bed for a good nap. She also gets along great with her human foster brother (2.5 years old) just as long as she can get away to her own space when he gets to be a little too much. Lucy is learning fast and will happily sit for a nice treat; food is definitely her best motivation. She walks nicely on a leash and typically likes to be by your side. Though we did have a few accidents at first, she is doing great with her potty training and has been accident free for over three weeks. She is still a little hesitant to use the bathroom while on the leash but knows exactly what to do in a yard of her own. We do require a fence for Lucy because of her shy nature. She loves chewing on her toys, particularly Nylabones, though she still occasionally needs to be reminded what is and what isn’t one of her toys.   She is quite comfortable in her crate and has been sleeping in it every night, though she is much more comfortable knowing it is still in proximity to her favorite people.
