Meet Kairo! He's a four year old, 60-65 pound, gorgeous shepherd boy. He is a very loving dog, who absolutely adores his humans and furry doggy foster siblings. He isn’t a fan of cats or other small animals, though. He loves to wrestle with the pups and then snuggle in your lap for a nap- he thinks he's a lap dog despite his larger size. Kairo is your typical shepherd shadow. He looks to be where you are, but will also hang out and play with his toys. He has been crated while in foster care, but needs some consistent training to reinforce that it’s an okay place to hang out when his people aren’t home. His ideal family will be one who isn’t away from the home for extended periods of time. He is house trained and listens pretty well! He knows basic commands and continues to get better with each training session. Kairo does well on a leash and does not pull much, but he does tend to bark at other people and dogs as they pass. He will need someone who’s willing to work with him and teach him proper doggy greeting etiquette. Kairo is a good boy, who’s willing to learn and eager to please. He loves all of the people he's been around (may bark at first, but quickly calms down). He has a pretty high energy level and can play for quite a long time. He also loves puzzle toys! We are working on holding commands for longer periods of time. He will sit when asked, but quickly stands. Overall, Kairo's best quality is his sweetness, but those ears don't hurt either. He loves all of the cuddles and will happily join you on the couch, in bed, on walks, or anything else he can be a part of. Kairo is being fostered near Wilmington, NC.
