Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Hi, my name is Champ because I am the goodest boy. I am 4 years old, about 50 pounds and they don’t know much about my past before I came here, except for it must have been hard on me. I know how to sit and lay down. I walk gently on a leash as long as I’m not scared of something. I am crate trained and am trusted to be in the house outside of my crate for a few hours when my foster parents leave! I’ve never chewed anything up and I know how to use a doggy door to go outside to go potty. I haven’t had an accident in the house in a long time. I love cuddles and I am the best at hanging out with you on the couch or bed, if I’m allowed to be there. I am still learning to be confident. New experiences or loud noises scare me still. I might always be a little nervous and you’ll have to be patient with me when I’m overwhelmed. When you come meet me, I will let you pet me all you want, but I might not wag my tail or show you my awesome personality right away because of how nervous I might be. Once I settle down in an environment and feel safe, my personality comes out and my tail just keeps wagging! I have met a little human and I did well. They said I was very gentle. I am good with other dogs. I will probably stick to any new dog brother or sister like glue so they can teach me the rules. I like to play, but sometimes I’m not exactly sure how to play, but it’s still a lot of fun! I like bones and I’m still learning about other dog toys. I have met a cat, it was very scary, but I didn’t want to eat it and they said I was a good boy for leaving it alone! I hope I find the perfect family soon! If you think you can offer me my furever home, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org I am being fostered near Fayetteville, NC. *Our volunteers process applications as quickly as they can, however it can take a little time. For this reason, the specific dog you apply for may not be available by the time your application is processed. If that happens we will do our best to find another perfect match for your family.*
