Hi there, my name is Joey. I’ve also been called Noodle and my current foster family likes to call me Sid—my name has changed a few times, haha. I am an 8 month old GSD Mix. My foster mom and dad think I might be part Malinois due to my coloring, but I don’t know. I came into rescue with a huge gash on my side, but I’m now good as new! My hair is filling in and I have gained some weight- I’m up to 60 pounds. My dad named me after one of his favorite rock groups, but my mom says I’m more like Sid on Ice age. I’m pretty goofy, impulsive and everything looks like it might be fun- even if it gets me in trouble. My foster dad says that I am sixty pounds of fur covered nuclear fusion. I have two speeds- full throttle and off. I love to play! My big sister is a Bloodhound and she outweighs me by 60 pounds, but I can keep her moving and I win more of our tug of wars than she does. My brother is an old grouch and I am learning to stay away from him. He is 14 and doesn’t want to play at all. He occasionally lets me cuddle with him, though. I do get pretty rambunctious at times and know what “time-out” means. My foster mom will point at my crate and I will go in to chill out for a while. I go willingly and will usually take a nap or chew on my Kong antler. I never fuss about going in the crate and will go in there on my own when I’m tired. I am housebroken and will go to the door when I need to go out. We have a dog door here so I can let myself out if no one is around. I sleep in my crate at night, and when my foster parents will be gone for over an hour. I do like to get up between 6:30 and 7 every day and will bark to let you know that I need to go out. We all have breakfast at 7am and I am very polite and wait for them to tell me it’s ok to eat. In addition to my two dog siblings, I’m also living with a cat. I don’t think I like cats. He spits and swats at me and that makes me want to growl and snap back. If he runs I can’t help myself, I just have to run after him. When I see him on the other side of the baby gate I bark at him. I really don’t think I like cats. I don’t like vaccuum cleaners, either. They are loud and scary. My foster mom has to put me in separate room when she is cleaning because I go a little nuts and try and turn it off. I am learning that it is not my enemy and in time I am sure I will be ok with it. I think I will do best in a home that has a fenced in yard like I have now so I can run around and have fun. I also would like another active dog that I can play with, or someone with the time to take me on walks and play ball. I am very intelligent, obedient and learn quickly. I have only been here a few weeks and I already understand dinner rules, sleeping rules and what is and is not a toy. Remote controls are not toys, but my balls and squirrel are. I know sit, come here, timeout, no and drop it. I will do anything for a treat! I am very good on a leash and don’t pull too much. I will do very well in a family environment, but maybe not with small children since I’m still very puppy like. I am very boisterousness and can grab your hands when I am playing with a toy. I don’t mean to be mouthy, I just can’t help it because I get so excited to play! I am a happy sweet boy and want a family that will keep me active. I am very, very smart and enjoy learning new things. If you want a smart athletic boy to be part of your family, I’m the dog for you. If you think you can offer me my furever home, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org I am being fostered near Wilmington, NC. *Our volunteers process applications as quickly as they can, however it can take a little time. For this reason, the specific dog you apply for may not be available by the time your application is processed. If that happens we will do our best to find another perfect match for your family.*
