Ava is a super sweet, two-year-old girl. She’s very much still a puppy at heart. She loves her fire-hose toys, chasing her Kong and she is awesome at fetch with her Kong tennis ball. Ava loves to run outside and play- so a yard or trails, green space is very important for her. She made fast friends with 4-5 of the kids in our neighborhood and was actually pretty gentle even with the tiniest one (age 3 to 14). But of course, she is a big girl and she is growing into her legs, so she can be a bit clumsy at times!

Ava seems to be likely best paired with a comparable sized dog or as the only dog. She doesn’t seem to pair well with smaller dogs at this point. She may later on - but our little dogs (seniors with some health issues) are somewhat in shock of her puppyish- like playfulness and her size.

She does fairly well on a leash already and enjoys our walks about the neighborhood, looking at sights, smelling the smells and scoping out the landscape. Ava will need someone who will continue to be diligent in training her to heel, and fine tune her leash manners. She is sharply intelligent and very affectionate!! As her fosters, my husband and I just love Ava! And truth be told, if things were a different time and situation, WE would love to have her as our own!

Of course, at around two years of age, Ava is still very much maturing and growing and needs lots of love and attention from her people to keep her stimulated so as not to get bored. Ava likes to sleep on her bed in her crate at night, but will also crawl in your lap on the couch! She is putting on needed weight (currently 56 pounds) and has a good appetite but is NOT food driven. She definitely wants to be with her family, so whether you’re inside or outside, she wants to be right there with you. She also likes going for car rides!
