Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. ~~Hi, my name is Ranger, and I am a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment. Just kidding! I am a 9-month-old, pint size version of a German Shepherd mix. I am about 34 pounds now, and I probably will not grow much more. My sister Belle and I were relinquished to the shelter because our original family no longer wanted us. I am very nervous and spent the first couple of weeks with my foster family hiding under a chair. It took me many more weeks to start to explore the rest of the house. Now I roam all over the place, and my personality is developing by leaps and bounds! My favorite place to be is outside with my foster brothers and sister. I can rough and tumble with those two full size GSD’s like nobody’s business! You should just see me! I am very smart. I learned to go potty outside just by watching my foster siblings. My foster mom did not have to do anything! Another of my favorite things to do is to collect things and take them back to my “lair”, wherever that happens to be at the time. I did not say that I was a “destroyer”, I am just a “collector”. It’s my hobby. I do have some injuries from my former military career…oh, I forgot…that was a fib. My right back leg was badly broken at some point in my young life, and it was not treated. It did not heal correctly, and it is about 2 inches shorter than the other leg. Don’t you worry, though! I can still use it and I run like the wind! If I were to get much taller, which we don’t expect, it might be unusable to me, but for now it just makes my gait a little funny. My foster mom thinks that I am the cutest runner in the house, and claps and sings my name when I take off after a toy! I am still not quite sure about humans, even my foster family. There are times when they still scare me, and even I’m not sure why. I do allow them to pet me now, and, occasionally, I give my foster mom a little peck. I need someone with a fenced yard, another playful, friendly dog, and a lot of patience. I promise I’ll come around and be the best dog ever! If you think you can offer me my furever home, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at https://freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. I am being fostered near Raleigh. P.S. I have been told that I have the cutest ears….just saying.
