Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.

~~Greetings new potential parent! My name is Amelia, I’m a gorgeous 5 year old female German Shepherd, and I currently weigh about 65 pounds. My previous owner abandoned me and I was in pretty rough shape. I ended up at the animal shelter and the nice people from Freedom German Shepherd Rescue took me in.  My foster mom and dad are taking GREAT care of me! I’m eating regularly (I LOVE food), gaining weight, playing fetch, going for walks and snuggling with my plush duck toy! I’m also very smart! I know how to sit, lay and shake and I can easily learn more if you have treats! Did I mention I love food? I’m also house trained and very well mannered. I love all people, but it may take me a few days to warm up to you. I get very attached, so I want to be with my new parents as much as possible! Although I love humans, I am not a fan of female dogs and would prefer to be the only female in the household. I like male dogs but have not spent any time around small dogs or small children.  I want to find my furever parents, so if you want to meet me please fill out an adoption application ASAP! I would love to answer any questions you have, so please ask away! I can’t wait to see you!  I am being fostered near Burlington.  If you are interested in making me a part of your family, please reach out to your adoption coordinator.  If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org.
