~~Meet Madison (Maddy)! At 2 years old, Maddy is a young affectionate, energetic German Shepherd. She weighs approximately 60 lbs, loves people, and gets along well with other dogs. Being still filled with puppy energy, she can be forward in her greetings and play style, and would do best with a non-dominant playmate.
When Maddy isn’t relaxing, she is constantly on the lookout for  ways to amuse herself. A good nylabone keeps her entertained for some time. Although she does love a good chew, she does not chew on furniture. She will mistake socks for toys, though, and make off with them if you’re not looking. Paper, cardboard and food on the floor are also considered fair game. Her foster parents are working on her habit of counter surfing, but she is a work in progress. She does pretty well in her crate while her family is away from the house or sleeping, but has a habit of chewing up anything left in her crate with her. Her foster family stopped putting blankets in her crate and she has done just fine since. Maddy enjoys toys and bones and will share (steal) them from her foster brother. She loves to play tug of war with her foster brother and has never shown any aggression in doing so.
Maddy is working on her inside manners. She sits on command and is working on shake and down. She is a jumper. Maddy will jump on people when she gets excited, in anticipation of being fed, going out the door, etc. Maddy's foster family discovered she does not like squirt bottles and is very treat motivated. Through  the use of treats and the water bottle, Maddy has become easily correctable and responds quickly to NO!
Maddy is housebroken and is working on her comfort level in her crate. She will go in her crate willingly especially with a treat. She calms down fairly quickly but gets very excited when it’s time to come out. She will have periods of excitability in her crate during the night.
Maddy would do best with an active family, and would absolutely love to have another young dog to play with. She will need a 6 foot fence as she gets very excited when seeing dogs outside her yard. She has not been cat tested, but with her energy and play style, a careful introduction to a dog wise cat would be necessary.
